Non-destructive entry means gaining access using specialist techniques that leave your lock cylinder, door handles, door frame and UPVC or composite door completely undamaged.
Lock picking. Precision picks manipulate the internal pins of your lock cylinder exactly as your key would. Takes longer than drilling. Leaves your lock fully functional.
Bypass techniques. Certain lock designs allow access without touching the cylinder mechanism. Completely reversible. Zero damage.
Lock bumping. A specially cut bump key momentarily aligns internal pins to open the lock. The lock remains fully operational afterwards.
Impressioning. A working key is created by reading the lock’s internal structure. You have a functioning key at the end of the job.
Decoding. For certain high-security locks we decode the key pattern and cut a new key without destructive entry.
These techniques require years of training, specialist tooling and genuine understanding of different lock mechanisms. This is why most locksmiths do not bother. Drilling is faster for them. It is not better for you.
Drilling destroys the cylinder. Once drilled, the lock is scrap. You then pay for a replacement lock, labour to fit it and potentially a return visit if the locksmith does not carry suitable stock.
Non-destructive entry means your existing lock survives. You pay for the callout. The lock stays.
Typical saving compared to drill-and-replace: £100-200.
If we gain entry without damaging your lock, every existing key still functions.
Modern UPVC and composite doors frequently carry 10-year guarantees. Unnecessary drilling and door panel damage can void these warranties entirely.
Non-destructive entry protects your investment.
Tenancy agreements typically make tenants liable for property damage. Unnecessary drilling means the landlord can deduct replacement costs from deposits.
For landlords, unnecessary lock destruction creates costs, admin and disputes. Non-destructive entry keeps your property intact and your tenants back inside without the paperwork.

You stepped outside for two seconds. The door closed behind you. Your keys are on the kitchen table.
We assess your lock type, select the appropriate non-destructive technique and gain entry. Your keys are still inside. Your lock is still working. Average resolution time: 15 to 30 minutes depending on lock complexity.
Drilling is not required in 90% of these cases
Keys are genuinely gone, not just locked inside.
Many locksmiths drill immediately. We do not.
We gain entry non-destructively where possible. Once inside we assess whether the lock itself requires changing based on whether the lost keys carried identifying information. If replacement is unnecessary we re-key the existing lock, changing the internal pins so old keys no longer operate it, then cut new keys for the re-keyed mechanism.
You leave with a functioning lock and new keys. No unnecessary replacement costs.
Metal fatigue happens. Half a key is stuck inside the cylinder.
Drilling is not the first option.
We use specialist extraction tools to remove the broken piece and assess the lock for internal damage. If undamaged we cut a new key from the extracted section.
Successful extraction without drilling: 85% of cases.
The key will not turn. The lock feels seized.
Common causes include internal spring failure, debris, attempted break-in damage, UPVC door misalignment and weather corrosion.
We diagnose from outside, apply the appropriate technique and gain entry without destroying the mechanism. Once inside we assess whether repair or replacement is needed. Many jammed locks are repairable rather than requiring full replacement.
Sometimes access is needed because a partner has left with keys, an ex-partner retains access you want to remove or a property needs securing following a difficult separation.
We provide discreet, professional service with rapid response. We gain entry non-destructively and immediately re-key or change locks so previous keys no longer function.
No judgement. No unnecessary questions.
If cost is a concern, call 0151 321 4166 and explain your situation. Do not remain in an unsafe position over locksmith fees.
Completed on a new property but the keys do not work, previous owners have not left a full set or locks have been changed without your knowledge?
We verify ownership via proof of purchase or tenancy agreement, gain entry non-destructively, create a full key inventory for all locks and advise which should be changed for security.
We then recommend changing locks regardless. You cannot verify who holds keys from previous occupants.
